Congratulations to AJ Lillibridge on being named the FUAN October 2019 Advocate of the Month. Families United Action Network chose AJ due to her efforts to be present and active. She attends all local events with a willingness to learn attitude and has become an “Active Committee Participant” leader within the FUAN (CNC)-Communication & Networking Committee.
AJ has recently taken over the reins as editor of the FUAN Times email newsletter. (To subscribe, go here.)
She became involved with FUAN because of issues with her husband's ex. The fury between them began during a court battle in 2017 and continues to fight for his rights as a father today. Her husband's struggle has been going on since 2011.
She remembers he was ready to give up on his efforts and wait till his kids were teenagers to resume the fight. Even though he had more than enough proof she was an unfit mother, the family court system seemed to fail him every time he confronted his ex-wife in court.
AJ used this experience as motivation to rally against the unfair court system; to get involved in family law reform. And to enforce it whenever her husband's ex tried to deny him time with his children.
Due to AJ's involvement with her husband and understanding family law, his ex has become even more difficult. She keeps trying to find ways to ruin the bonds he has with his children and AJ. This is Parental Alienation in action.
Because of their terrible experience, AJ wants to help others experiencing unfairness from the justice system. She wants to help spread the word about men's rights and help improve the family court system.
AJ Lillibridge grew up in Prairie City, Iowa, but moved to Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 19. Growing up, she wanted to become a nurse; however, being a single mother at the age of 21 with two young children, she put her nursing education on hold.
Instead, she went to school for medical billing and coding in 2004 at Franklinton Technology in Columbus, Ohio. Shortly after, she enrolled at The Spa School, also in Columbus, to become a licensed managing nail technician. She worked in several upscale salons to gain experience to start her own business in the future.
In the summer of 2009, AJ moved to Des Moines, where her third child was born. That same year, she enrolled at American Inter-Continental University to get a degree in business. AJ's goal was to obtain a Monday through Friday day job that would allow her to be at home more with her children.
Unfortunately, she soon realized that she didn't like desk jobs and returned to salon work. In 2014 she enrolled at Iowa School of Beauty in Urbandale, Iowa, to become an esthetician to do eyelash extensions. Upon completion of classes at ISB, she enrolled at Xtreme Lashes Academy of Lash Artistry in Kansas City, Missouri, to become a Certified Xtreme Lash Stylist and certification in advanced hair removal by enrolling in waxing at the City University in Denver, Colorado.
In 2015 she started her own lash studio business in Urbandale, Iowa, but closed her business in the summer of 2018 to be a stay at home mom.
A J is now happily married and mother to three children ages twenty, sixteen, ten, and 14-months, and a step-mother to two girls ages nine and twelve. AJ also works from home as a Transcriptioner and Captioner. The flexibility of this job allows her to be a part of the FUAN Family.
In the future, she would like to restart her lash extensions business. She has been in the salon spa industry for over 15 years in a variety of markets, including in prestigious upscale salons in Berkeley, CA, Grand Rapids, MI and surrounding cities in Columbus, OH. AJ's greatest experiences are in a clinical setting.
She has worked alongside Dr. Navin Gupta, DPM, in the Des Moines area. She loves to learn new things as she feels that knowledge is power, and power is knowledge.
In her free time, AJ loves spending time with family and taking them out for fun activities, going to the movies, going to the park, arcade centers, traveling, hiking, fishing, and so much more.
FUAN wants to shout out a great big Thank You to AJ. We appreciate your efforts. You deserve being chosen as the FUAN October 2019 Advocate of the Month.
