Iowa Grandparents Lawsuit Meeting February 13, 2018, at 1 PM
Are you or someone you know being denied relative placement by Iowa DHS?
With DHS being a constant topic in the Iowa media, the legislative body, and at the coffee shops and dinner tables across Iowa, One must ask what steps are being taken to keep the children safe with other fit family members?
You will usually hear the response of the DHS stating that “It is the department policy to seek family placement.” In fact, the steps for family placement are often skipped, overlooked, or ignored. Obstacles to making these placements seem impossible for many grandparents and relatives that are fit, willing, and able to step up to the plate and take care of their family members that are in need.
On February 13th at 1 pm Des Moines East Side Library Meeting Room 2559 Hubbell Avenue, there will be an informational meeting where Jack will answer your questions, explain how the lawsuit works, and share the outcome we hope to achieve!
Iowa Grandparents have decided to unite with an attorney
The attorney is Jack Bjornstad from Okoboji, IA. Jack has been successful in suing the state on several issues in the past and wants to represent ANY GRANDPARENT who has been denied custody of their grandchild(ren) by Iowa DHS.
Please join us to receive the details and get all of your questions answered.
Be sure to stay tuned to Families United Action Network (FUAN)’s website for further information and applications for how you can get involved in this suit against DHS for lack of family placements. We will even do our best to try and have a video summary available online to help make it convenient if you are unable to attend. https://www.familiesunite.org/
