Family Lockdown Bubbles of Love 2020

ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION

There will be no TeleFUAN tomorrow night. We have tabled this fundraising event to be rescheduled at another time, after this country has resolved some of the current civil unrest and uncertainty. We felt that our time needed to be focused on the important policy issues that have come to a head right now. These are unexpected, unprecedented, and important times that require our full attention.

We apologize to those who planned to join us and our contributors and sponsors. This event will be rescheduled eventually, we just don’t have a date at this time. Please stay tuned.

In the meantime, here is how you can help: https://www.familiesunite.org/how-you-can-help/

JASMINE

Jasmine, comprised of husband and wife Chris & Laura Swiser, has been performing in Eastern Iowa for almost 4 decades. Their mix of classic rock, country, folk and swing, along with their knack for engaging their audience, has made them a staple at wineries and coffee houses in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area. Come listen to Jasmine play songs you know the words to!

PHILLY SLIMM

Philly is no stranger to most who are actively involved in the Family Law Reform movement as he is a national leader of custodial reforms. His voice, his activism, his music, and most of all his passion earned him the June 2018 FUAN Advocate of the Month Award. By the time Jason was 19, his family had moved to Denver. There, he began to perform as a cover artist for Eminem at local bars – adopting the name Slimm. Given the fact that Jason looks a lot like the well-known rapper Eminem, at age 20, he was invited to the 2000 Grammy awards and the “Real Slim Shady” video! After being behind the scene and seeing the production process, Jason decided the sky was the limit.

Host:

Nicholas Dreeszen, Families United Action Network – FUAN Chief Executive Director.

—WHAT IS PARENTAL ALIENATION?—
Parental Alienation is the process which results in the psychological manipulation of a child to reject a parent. This manipulation may lead to a child having unwarranted fear, disrespect, or even hostility towards a parent or other family members. Parental Alienation is both a distinctive and widespread form of psychological abuse. This usually results in family violence which affects both the child and the rejected family member(s). This occurs almost exclusively in association with family separation or divorce (and particularly where legal action is involved).

Most commonly, the primary cause of such alienation is one parent wishing to exclude the other parent from the life of their child. Other family members or friends, as well as professionals involved with the family (including psychologists, lawyers and judges), may contribute significantly to the process. Parental Alienation often leads to the long-term, or even permanent, estrangement of a child from one parent and other family members. Parental Alienation contributes to adverse childhood experiences, and it significantly increases risks of both mental and physical illness for children.

—WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?—
Parental Alienation is a destructive process that occurs in some families during or following a divorce. Distorted parental practices happen when one parent has a severely distorting influence on the child’s relationship with the other parent. This may cause the child to entirely reject a relationship with a normal-range, loving, and affectionate parent. As a result, the child loses a healthy relationship with a loving and affectionate parent. This can leave a child in an unhealthy, psychological pathogenic parent situation. The Alienation represents the family’s inability to transition from an intact family structure united by the marriage to a separated family structure united by the children and by the continuing parental relationships with the children. The family’s difficulty with this transition is the result of one parent’s narcissistic personality traits that are distorting this parent’s response to the divorce and dissolution of the marriage. The narcissistic personality traits of one parent are then damaging the child’s relationship with the other parent.
